View code and connect GitHub
Browse your site files and keep a copy of the code in your GitHub account.
You can inspect site code inside OffPress. The built-in code view is read-only; ask for changes in a site session.
Open the code view
- Open your site and select Settings.
- Open the Code tab.
- Use the Code control to browse the files.
- Select a file to read it.
Connect GitHub
- In Settings → Code, find GitHub.
- Select Connect GitHub when it is available.
- Complete the GitHub authorization steps.
- Return to OffPress and check the connected repository.
The connection mirrors site code to a private repository under your GitHub account. It is a one-way mirror: edits made directly on GitHub can be overwritten by the next change in OffPress.
Use Disconnect in the same section to stop the connection. If the section says GitHub is not set up, the connection is not currently available.
Plan an export or another host
The code repository is one part of a working site. Content, uploaded media, private files, database records, and service settings also need to be moved when hosting elsewhere.
Before a move, make an inventory of those items and test the new copy. Do not assume that cloning the GitHub repository also copies your customer data or saved content.
For restoring an earlier code version in OffPress, see History and recovery.
