Connect a custom domain
Point your domain to the published site and check that it opens correctly.
Publish and review the site before moving your domain. You will need access to the DNS settings where your domain is managed.
Find the site addresses
Open the site, choose Settings, and open Basic. The OffPress address is the site’s address on OffPress. Custom domains shows the DNS values to use for your own domain.
Add the domain
- In Custom domains, read the DNS records shown for this site.
- Open your domain provider’s DNS settings.
- Set the
wwwCNAME or root-domain A record using the exact target shown in OffPress. - Return to OffPress, enter the hostname, and select Add domain.
- Allow time for DNS and the HTTPS certificate to become ready.
- Open the domain in a new browser tab and check the main pages.
Enter a hostname such as www.example.com, without a page path. If you use both example.com and www.example.com, configure and test both.
Keep email records in place
Change the website records you need. Keep the MX and email-related TXT records used by your email provider unless you are also changing email services.
DNS changes are made at the domain provider. Adding a domain in OffPress does not change those records for you.
If the domain does not open
Compare the DNS values with the ones in Custom domains. Check for conflicting records for the same hostname and allow time for changes to spread. Confirm that the site opens at its OffPress address.
If HTTPS is still unavailable after the records are correct, contact OffPress with the domain and the error shown by the browser.
Still need help? Contact OffPress with your site name and what you were trying to do.
