Images and files

Upload media, add useful descriptions, and replace images on a page.

Open Content or Content/Store, then Media library to manage images, video, audio, and PDF files.

Upload a file

  1. Open Media library and choose the create or upload control.
  2. Select your file.
  3. For an image, add Alt text that describes its useful content.
  4. Add a caption if the page should show one.
  5. Save the item.

Alt text helps people understand an image when they cannot see it. “Two people sanding a wooden stool” is more useful than “image123.jpg.”

Use or replace an image

For a post’s featured image, open the post and choose the image in Featured image. For a page layout, ask in Site Design and name both the page and the image.

Replace the large image at the top of /workshops with “Saturday workshop” from Media. Keep the current crop on desktop and check it on a phone.

Check the page after saving or after the site change finishes. If the image does not fit, ask for a different crop or layout.

Remove an unused file

Before deleting media, check whether a page, post, product, or download link uses it. Removing the file can leave those places with a missing image or broken link.

Keep paid files private

Media files are public website assets. For files that customers buy, open the product’s Options & delivery settings and use its private file field. See Products and delivery.
