Review an imported site

An import gives you a starting point to review. Keep your original site open in another tab so you can compare it with the OffPress preview.

Check what has finished

Open Next steps in the migration session. Review imported counts, missing items, and any pages that could not be read. A ready preview does not always mean the full archive is imported. Use Finish the import for the remaining work.

Check the main pages

1. Open the homepage in the preview.
2. Follow the header and footer links.
3. Open each important page, including Contact, About, and any page linked from a main button.
4. Check headings, text, images, and downloads.
5. Switch to the phone preview and check menus, text size, and buttons.

A “this isn’t here yet” message is a placeholder, not a completed page. Use Next steps to check whether the page remains to be imported. If its header or menu is missing too, report that as a separate navigation problem.

Try a few older pages and posts as well as the newest ones. Look for missing images, incorrect links, and content that is cut off.

Review content and addresses

Open Content or Content/Store. Check that the pages, posts, media, and any imported products you need are present. Compare important page addresses with the original site.

If an address needs to change, add a redirect from the old address. See Search settings and redirects.

Test the features people use

Submit a contact form with example details and confirm it arrives. Test search, signup forms, menus, and important buttons. For a store, check products, variants, prices, and delivery settings. Set up and test payments separately.

Imported pages can look complete while a connection still needs setup. See What an import includes for common cases.

Ask for a correction

Make the request in Site Design or Content, depending on what needs fixing. Include the page address and the difference you found.

On /workshops, the Saturday class is missing its image. Use the image already in Media named “Saturday workshop” and keep the existing text.

Check the updated preview before moving to the next issue. When the checks pass, follow Publish your site.
