Editing your site by just chatting

The biggest shift in OffPress isn't where your site is hosted — it's how you change it. Instead of editing theme files or wrestling a page builder, you describe what you want.

A conversation, not a config screen

The studio is a chat window beside a live preview. You type "make the hero full-width with a dark overlay" and the assistant makes the change, then shows you the result. Want to refine it? Ask for "a little less dark, and move the button to the left." Review the result and keep iterating.

It understands your whole site

Because OffPress has your content and structure, the studio has context. You can reference things that already exist — "use the same blue as the footer on the buttons" — or things you remember from before — "my old site had a sticky call-to-action bar; add one." It can refer to your original site's design while working on your new one.

The site is a full Next.js application with Payload CMS and a Postgres database. The assistant can work on content, design, and backend features such as collections, forms, and API endpoints. Read our guide to CMS-free versus managed publishing for the architectural distinction.

Ask questions or request a change

There is no separate Chat or Build switch to manage. Ask a question to explore an idea, or describe a change you want made. For an ambiguous or substantial request, the assistant can ask a clarifying question or present a plan before editing.

Know what goes live and when

Design and code changes appear in the private preview first. Look them over, ask for tweaks, and publish when you are happy. Saved CMS content changes — such as wording edits to an existing post — appear on both the preview and the published site immediately. Review the wording before requesting a live content edit.

Moving an existing site? Start with what happens to your content, URLs, and SEO, then use the editing and publishing documentation as you work.
