What moves with you — SEO, URLs, and your content
When people hesitate to leave WordPress, it's almost always the same worry: "Will I lose my Google rankings?" It's the right question. Preserving URLs, content, and SEO metadata reduces avoidable migration risk, but no platform can guarantee rankings. Here's what OffPress brings across and what to check before launch.
Original URLs
Migrated posts and pages retain their original paths, so existing links, bookmarks, and backlinks can keep working. If you deliberately change a URL, add a permanent redirect from the old address to its replacement. Check a sample of your most important landing pages as well as deeper article URLs.
The SEO metadata
- Page titles and meta descriptions
- Open Graph and Twitter card tags
- Canonical URLs
- Structured data / schema
OffPress carries over this metadata and generates a sitemap and robots rules for the rebuilt site. Review the output: canonical URLs should use your public domain, the sitemap should list working indexable pages, and the private preview should not compete with your live site in search.
Your content
The full migration brings posts, pages, images, and media into the site's CMS. The initial preview is a starting point, not proof that every page has been imported. Before switching your domain, confirm the full migration is complete and compare the imported records with your original site.
Your writing stays your writing. You can manage it in the content admin or edit it by chatting. OffPress uses a managed Payload backend and Postgres database, so moving away from WordPress does not mean losing structured content management.
What to check at launch
Test important URLs, redirects, internal links, images, titles, canonicals, and index settings. Make sure the sitemap uses the public domain, then monitor indexing and traffic after launch. These checks help distinguish normal search fluctuations from an avoidable technical problem.
